Custom Homes

Stages

As we have stated previously, we can provide you with almost any level of interaction that you prefer, but we like to keep our clients continuously updated. If you live locally, you may wish to visit the site frequently as the house is being built, while out-of-town clients may only be able to visit a couple times during the construction process. Either way, we take plenty of digital pictures during the process showing the progress of the job from start to finish. These will be posted in the client area of our website.

Plans & Design

At the very beginning of the process, in the planning stage, we will walk your lot with you to look for the best light for the home and to maximize your view and/or lot coverage. During the design phase, we draw a preliminary plan based on our meetings with you, and you have the chance to make revisions to the plans a few times before they are finalized. If you have us design your home, there is no charge to you for the plans if we build your home. We pride ourselves in being a full-service company. Though the majority of clients have us design and draw plans for them, some come to us with plans in hand. This is fine too!

Bid Process

After the design is complete and the drawings are done, we will direct you to local suppliers & shops where you can choose the colors, styles, woods, etc., of the various components of your newly designed home. We will arrange meetings between you & the cabinet makers, you & the lighting fixture company, and point you in the right direction to pick out tile, carpet, marble, granite, cultured marble, roofing, plumbing fixtures, etc. Choosing these components helps us to create specifications that enable us to give you an accurate quote for your project. We offer you a firm and accurate quote before the project starts, to eliminate confusion during the construction phase. Though there will most likely be some change orders, if you don't change any of your initial decisions and choices, the contract price will remain exactly as bid. This is especially beneficial to those who will be getting a construction loan, as all costs will be contained in the loan.

Construction of your Home

At the framing stage we will walk the job site with you showing you the window and door openings. When it comes time to do the rough-in electrical we will have a "walk thru" with you and the electrician, so you may visually place all of your switches, receptacles and lights. Regular meetings on the jobsite with subcontractors is a very effective way for us to get a visual of what is happening, what they intend to do, and to satisfy any detailed questions from our customers. We are very much in favor of taking the extra time to assure a job well done, so our jobs supervisors meet with subcontractors every step of the project to ensure that the job is getting done the way we all understand it will be, according to the plans and specifications.

Completion

Upon completion, homeowners receive a copy of our limited warranty, along with maintenance guidelines for every item in their newly constructed home, and lien releases from the subcontractors & material providers who worked on, or provided material for, the project. It is our hope that every customer is ecstatic the day that they take possession of their home and continue to be happy with the finished project for years to come. We take our work very seriously and 100% customer satisfaction is our goal!
